Syllabus: | Examination of the following - Grape phenology, influence of climate and soil on wine grape production, viticultural environments of Western Australia, Grape Flower and Berry Set, the physiology of Berry Development, biochemistry of fruit ripening, pest and disease management. Vineyard factors affecting wine quality. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Been introduced to the process of decision making in viticulture and related the decisions made to the actual viticulture practices. Understood the principles and practices associated with viticulture. Understood morphology and physiology of the grapevine and the grape berry. Understood the relevent technical and seasonal operations associated with viticultural practices relevent to Western Australian conditions. Learnt skills that can be appliedto solving the day to day problems that occur seasonally in the vineyard. |
