Syllabus:Students will undertake a number of group initiated projects, working in two and three dimensions, through which they will explore a range of visual problems associated with form, communication and personal expression. Further exploration of the use of drawing as an analytical tool and an exploration of the symbolic and expressive properties of traditional materials and techniques. Students will develop a portfolio of work demonstrating their competence in traditional and contemporary technologies.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Selected appropriate media for developing their responses to conceptual problems. Gained an familiarity with the properties of a wide range of media and the ability to manipulate materials to solve problems set in workshop sessions. The ability to utilise practices to which they have traditional rights and to explore and develop new art practices in response to changing situations.
