Syllabus:Students will undertake a number of staff initiated projects, which will examine issues such as the representation of Indigenous Australians leading to the possibility for developing new modes of representation, social and political issues relating to contemporary Aboriginal society and cultural concerns for contemporary Aboriginal artists. Traditional techniques and approaches will be encouraged and a critique of various forms of representation will be undertaken. Students will develop a portfolio of work demonstrating their competence in traditional and contemporary technologies and processes.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Developed an appropriate level of independent judgement, imagination and commitment in successfully realising set projects. Selected and developed imaginative strategies for conceptualising ideas. The ability to perpetuate practices to which they have traditional rights and to explore and develop new art practices in response to changing situations.
