Syllabus:As for Foundation Mathematics 041, plus additional topics - vector quantities, addition and scalar multiplication, position vectors, equation of line, relative displacement and velocity and scalar product. Inverse function and composite functions. Differentiation from first principles. Polar co-ordinates.
 
Unit Outcomes: The aim of the course is to ensure that students have a firm understanding of the mathematical concepts covered in Australian high schools and that they are familiar with the correct terminology. To this end, the two courses will cover the material in the high school courses Introductory Calculus (Year 11) and Applicable Mathematics (Year 12) plus additional material in Trigonometry, Polar co-ordinates and Functions, as is being taught in the high school courses Geometry and Trigonometry (Year 11) and Calculus (Year 12). The main emphasis is on trigonometry.
