Syllabus:Air-water system balance. Social, economic and visual impacts of mining activity. Air quality control. Water quality control. Radiation control. Noise, airblast and ground vibrations control. Mined land reclamation and restoration. Environmental legislation. Environmental impact studies.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Become aware of the environmental impacts of mining operations and with methods used to minimise these impacts.
