Syllabus:Examination of Australian law relevant to the practice of public relations. Topics include defamation, injurious falsehood, passing off, Trade Practices Act, contempt of Parliament, privacy, media regulation, censorship - including statutory prohibitionssuch as current anti-discrimination legislations, advertising regulation and promotion, and professional negligence.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Become aware of the legal actions that affect those in the business of publishing information or giving advice to clients. Become able to understand the requirements of particular legal actions relevant to publication Law (Publication Relations). Understanding of the difference between civil and criminal actions and how this affects Publication Relations professionals.
