Syllabus:The study of needs assessment, design, development, dissemination, implementation and evaluation of programs for training. Coping with curriculum change. Set within the political and administrative constraints of national and international training practice, and the theory and practice of curriculum design and development in post-school environments.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Described the format and features of curriculum documents and discuss the ways they are used in their area of teaching. Analysed the basic concepts and processes of curriculum design and development for higher education and training. Applied the elements of planning and developing curriculum materials to their own area of teaching. Researched and analysed the interaction of planning and implantation. Applied the principles of curriculum design and development to produce units of instruction related to their own teaching. Explained the implications for curriculum development of current state and national training reform agenda in Australia. Described and analysed the processes of curriculum dissemination and implementation for the post compulsory sector of education. Applied these processes to their own curriculum planning and development. Critically analysed the processes of planning and developing curriculum materials in their own teaching area. Applied the principles of curriculum research to training needs analysis in their area. Used training needs analysis data, designed new or revised curriculum products in their own teaching area.
