Syllabus:	Introduction to common hand injuries and conditions requiring occupational therapy rehabilitation. Assessments and interventions used in hand rehabilitation with a focus on the fabrication of static and dynamic splinting. Introduction to theories on acute and chronic pain. Assessments and interventions used in pain management.
Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Demonstrate the ability to explain common hand conditions and injuries and wound healing as a foundation for occupational therapy intervention. Select and apply appropriate assessment toolsand treatment modalities in pain and hand rehabilitation using clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice. Select and fabricate a range of common static and dynamic splints using appropriate methods and materials.
