Layout and design of accommodation. The legal framework within which information managers work. Security, safety. Marketing and public relations. Organisational culture. Performance evaluation. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Discussed the evolution of management theories. Discussed the role of leader or manager. Utilised the concept of strategic planning in setting out and achieving the goals and objectives of an organisation. Developed a strategy for staff recruitment, training and evolution. Maintained harmonious relations with and between any staff they may be responsible for and ensured that they have safe working conditions. Produced a budget for both long term and short term projects. Drawn up a proposal for the design or refurbishment of a library or an information centre. Detailed the steps necessary when introducing automation to the organisation. Ensured the success of the service for which they are responsible by exhibiting an entrepreneurial attitude and awareness of the key role of the service. |
