Syllabus:Non-structural elements in a commercial environment, suspended ceilings, partitions and commercial finishes. Acoustic and lighting fundamentals. Measurement and calculations. Noise control. Integrated thermal, visual and aural design. By-laws and regulations.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An understanding of the terms and indices used in architectural acoustics and lighting. The ability to recognise the relevance of design implications on the acoustic and lighting environment. Theability to carry out simple acoustic design, including construction specification. The ability to recognise when the acoustic environment is being modifies during the design process. The ability to carry out simple day lighting exercises in relation to shading. The ability to determine for simple designs, the required amounts of external opening required providing adequate internal illumination levels. Carried out simple lighting simulations.
