| Syllabus: | Introduction to the application of measurement in the construction industry, use of dimension paper, conventions for setting out and recording measurements, quality control procedures for completing measurement tasks and practical experience of measuring simple examples of all major building trades. Computer systems. A general theoretical and practical background to the use of computers in the solution of problems relating to building. Computer programming and evaluation of the application of computer packages. |

| Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Been introduced to the role of computers within the building industry. Become familiarised with the ArchiCAD building simulation software. Created 'virtual' buildings accurately within the computer using the ArchiCAD in two and three dimensions. Created computer generated component list reports from the 'virtual' building. Basic plotting and image creation skills. |
