Ethics for engineers. Introduction to sociology for engineers. The future of engineering in Australia. Multimedia communications, their introduction, role and use. Introduction to web based learning facilities and computer mediated, network communications. Use of computer based presentation packages. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the history of engineering in Australia, an awareness of the various disciplines of engineering and an understanding of issues related to ethics and sociology. They will have attained the skills necessary to use a graphics package to present information about technical artefacts and write a technical report on a topic including the use of word processing and an analysis package. Finally, they will have developed the ability to search for information on a particular topic using all available media, to understand meaning and implications of plagiarism and develop team working, problems solving and creative thinking skills. |
