Syllabus:Duties and principles of building surveying, administration of governmental control of building construction, local government legislation forms, notices and breaches, government authorities, other acts and regulations. Liability of local authorities, making of by-laws and preparation and service of notices.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An overview of the legislation and statutory bodies which control the development process. A practical knowledge of the process of development and building control in a local government. An understanding of the structure of local government and how it affects development control.
