Syllabus: | Introduction to legal processes arising from safety and health issues, international standards, interpretation of occupational safety and health legislation, codes of practice, legality of industrial standards, notices issued by inspectors, criminal prosecutions, civil actions arising out of breach of statutory duty, review of administrative actions, law of evidence, expert witness, legal reporting requirements, alternatives to legal action, case studies using the Internet. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - An understanding and awareness of legal activity associated with occupational safety and health issues. A detailed understanding of occupational safety and health offences and regulatory requirements, understanding of evidentiary requirements. |
