Syllabus: | An introduction to small business developing the main functional areas necessary for the establishment and continuous operation of a small business. Management, marketing, legal, financial, accounting, human resource, taxation, and selling. Practical andtheoretical aspects are covered, with a business plan being developed as part of the assessment. |

Unit Outcomes: | The primary aim of this unit is to provide an introduction to the world of small and medium enterprises and to the fundamentals of effective small business management. By the end of the course, students are expected to have achieved the following outcomes - Developed a basic knowledge about small business financial control, effective marketing techniques, and day-to-day operations. Acquired an understanding of the environment in which small and medium enterprises operate both in Australia and Asia. Developed an understanding of the business commencement options for small and medium enterprises and the different legal structures applicable to small and medium enterprises. |
