Syllabus:Descriptive statistics, probability distributions, sampling and sampling distributions, elementary principles in statistical inference, tests of significance and confidence limits, tests of goodness of fit and independence, correlation and regression analysis, interpretation of output produced by common statistical software such as SPSS.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Been introduced to the basic principles and methods in statistics for application in solving problems in agribusiness. An understanding of elementary statistical concepts and methods including descriptive statistics, probability concepts and applications, sampling distributions and statistical inference, tests of significance and confidence limits. An understanding of basic principles of survey design and experimental design and conduct statistical tests such as analysis of variance, tests of goodness of fit and independence, correlation and regression analysis.
