Syllabus:Introduction to academic writing. Effective communication, both oral and written. Synthesising information, note taking and summarising. Writing laboratory reports. Students prepare and print essays and reports with the aid of a word processor.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Demonstrated knowledge of the writing and reading codes and conventions required for the sciences. Written a standard scientific report using appropriate format. Analysed data in a critically reflective way. Applied basic research skills to gather and integrate information.
