Syllabus:The contemporary workplace environment including culture, gender, aging workforce, contract employment and young workers and the impact these issues have on occupational health and safety. Exploration of how Government, unions and human resource development practices influence occupational health and safety.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- The ability to describe the contemporary workplace and discuss the impact Government, unions and human resource development strategies have upon occupational health and safety. Recognised the issues that impinge on occupational health and safety in the contemporary work environment. Demonstrated an understanding of of the influence that unions and human resource development practices have on occupational safety. Developed communication skills including interview techniques. The ability to identify the negotiation process for the resolution of occupational health and safety issues.
