Syllabus:Defamation, injurious falsehood, passing off, Trade Practices Act (1974) (Cth), contempt of parliament, privacy, media regulation, censorship (includes statutory prohibitions such as current anti discrimination legislation), advertising regulation and promotions. Professional negligence.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Become aware of the legal actions that affect those in the business of publishing information or giving advice to clients. Become able to understand the requirements of particular legal actions relevant to publication Law (Public Relations). Understanding of the difference between civil and criminal actions and how this affects public relations professionals.
