Syllabus:An introduction to the fundamental principles and processes required of the management function and their application within the occupational health and safety context, roles and responsibilites of key personnel, application of managerial principles function and skills for effective implementation of occupational health and safety programs, contribution of a range of health disciplines to occupational health and safety problem solving, and an understanding of scientific and legislative concepts of occupational health and safety.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Understand the roles and responsibilities of key personnel involved in the management of occupational health and safety within an organisation. Recognise and apply the key managerial principles, functions and skills required for effective implementation of occupational health and safety programs in an organisation. Understand the contributions of a range of health disciplines to problem solving in occupational health and safety. Identify the scientific and legislative concepts underpinning contemporary occupational health and safety in Australia. Integrate the OH and S management system within an organisation by accommodating internal and external social, organisational and legislative influences.
