Syllabus:Introduction to computer assisted cartography. Raster and vector mapping. Raster/vector conversions. Spatial interpolation. Contouring. Modelling and visualisation. Computer assisted map compilation.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Described the functional characteristics of computer assisted cartography systems, understood data structures commonly utilised for the management of spatial data, evaluated appropriate raster or vector data structures to facilitate spatial data storage and manipulation, evaluated data characteristics and output requirements for the selection of spatial interpolation approaches, understood the characteristics of modelling and visualisation approaches and applied a range of techniques to terrain and surface data.
