Syllabus:History of United Kingdom and Western Australian land law. Statutes and regulations governing authorised surveys in Western Australia. Foundation and development of professional ethics, history of land surveying, the profession, legal implications and responsibilities for those involved in professional surveying practice. Process of cadastral field operations under various Acts dealing with the processes of land development and administration in Western Australia.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Developed an understanding of the acts and regulations governing Land Law in Western Australia, an understanding of the subdivisional and strata process of land in Western Australia, developed the necessaryfield techniques to define a cadastral alignment, the ability to provide the correct information to DOLA in terms of plans, field notes and CSD files and understood the development of ethics within our society and the role ethics play in a professional Institution.
