Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A relevant degree with a semester weighted average (SWA) of 70 per cent or better or an equivalent qualification. Applicants with a SWA of less than 70 per cent will be required to undertake appropriate bridging units. Selection will be based on academic performance, the potential to undertake research, professional references and an interview. International applicants will be required to meet similar entry criteria.
Duration and Availability
This research course is of two years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Applicants with a postgraduate diploma, relevant honours degree or equivalent qualifications and experience may be eligible for direct entry to the second year of the course.
Course Organisation
This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the Postgraduate Coordinator, School of Psychology. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
Special Note
It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one-third by coursework.
