Chemistry of aromatic compounds, alkyl halides, alcohols, ethers, epoxides and amines. Reaction mechanisms and industrial applications for example petrochemicals are emphasised. Laboratory work - separation and purification techniques. Preparative chemistry illustrating laboratory techniques and reaction types.
