Cells are the underlying theme. An understanding of the generalised cell - its intracellular components and outer surface membranes. Examination of the structure of cells with specialised functions and how to recognise that these are using histological techniques. An examination of how different cells come together to form various tissues that combine as organs which can be integrated together as an organ system. Several organ systems shall be examined relating the underlying cell types and their contribution to overall system function. How the lysosome - a cellular component, can be utilised as a biomarker of exposure to pollutants. |
