Elementary and historical aspects of solar astronomy, geodesy and cartography. Fundamentals of astronomy. Relationship between universal, sidereal, atomic and GPS time. Celestial and terrestrial coordinate systems. Solution of the astronomical triangle, and determination of azimuth, altitude and time. Kepler's equation. Applied solar astronomy. Mathematical treatment of map projections. Spherical trigonometry, formulae and solutions of Great Circle navigation problems.
