Analysis of exploration and mining systems using mathematical programming, simulation techniques and network models. Applications to pit optimisation, mine development, production scheduling, work planning, equipment replacement and maintenance and ventilation design. Introduction to expert systems, artificial neural networks and virtual reality and their applications in mining. Case studies and literature study assignments.
