Basic biology of bacteria, fungi and viruses and their roles in human disease. Microbial cell structure, nutrition, metabolism and cultivation of microbes. Control of microbes by sterilisation, disinfection and anti-microbial chemotherapy. Immunity to microbial pathogens.
