Sociobiology versus other approaches to explaining behaviour are examined. Comparative primate social systems - the 'selfish gene' theory, inclusive fitness, reciprocal altruism, game theory. The theory of sex. Biological versus cultural determinism. Bioethics - concepts of equality for humans and animals. Spectra of behavioural adaptation - cultural-economic systems, including oldest recent surviving hunter-gatherer societies.
