Develops English language skills and focuses on the integration of communication skills. Builds confidence in approaching and critically responding to a variety of written and audiovisual discourse forms. It further develops the students' academic writing skills towards research and topics requiring discussion and development. Study skills, especially those associated with independent learning, are developed. The importance of critical response, organising ideas and planning before writing is highlighted in working through the transition from thinking in the first language to thinking in English.
