Introduction
Building on foundation study of business and mining disciplines, this course prepares applicants for more senior management roles in the energy sector. It focuses on economic, financial and management issues as they relate to oil, gas and other parts of the energy industry. The delivery of the program involves cooperation between the Western Australian School of Mines, the Curtin Business School, the Centre for Oil and Gas Engineering and national and international visiting professors.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A four year bachelors degree or equivalent from a recognised university and two years work experience.

Specific Requirements
Candidates without sufficient background may be required to complete one or both of the following foundation units before commencing the first stage - Economic Analysis and Asian Economies 550 and Financial Management 550.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is normally completed over two years of accelerated part-time study. The normal annual entry is in January. Units within this course are offered in a variety of formats.

Course Organisation
Students undertake core units and a stream which depends on whether the student comes from either an engineering and science or another background, and elective units. Full units require class attendance either for eight days of tuition (with two examinations) or for five days of tuition (with one examination and a significant assignment). The tuition period normally begins on a Sunday afternoon. Half units require class attendance for four consecutive days with an examination on the fifth day. Where students enrol for this course on a full-time basis they may substitute units from the Curtin Business School for some of the units listed in negotiation with the Course Coordinator.
