Introduction
This course provides health professionals with a broad and sound foundation in biological and behavioural sciences, the principles of teaching and learning and best practice management of diabetes. Graduates will have the capacity to advance diabetes education and guide clinical practice.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A relevant bachelors degree or equivalent from a recognised instituition. An alternative mode of entry is available for health professionals without a degree.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is of one year part-time duration.
Course Organisation
Students are required to participate in clinical practice (2 x 2 week blocks).
Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible to apply for credentialling with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
Special Note
Students are unable to directly enrol into this course as it is offered as an intermediate award within the Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Diabetes Education).
