Introduction
This program is designed to provide a sound understanding of the process of financial planning, together with the fundamental skills and knowledge required in professional practice. The course provides a good foundation for those wanting to gain employment in the finance industry and also enables professionals currently employed in these areas to further develop their skills.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A recognised bachelors degree.

Specific Requirements
Candidates without sufficient background may be required to complete one or more of the following foundation units before commencing the first stage - Economics Analysis and Asian Economics 550, Legal Environment 560, Financial Management 550, Information for Business Decisions 550.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This three semester fee paying course is available full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units are available externally. Depending on their previous field of study students may be required to complete one or more foundation units before commencing the first stage.

Professional Recognition
This course is accredited with the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Graduates are eligible for Associate Membership (AFPA) after the relevant work experience requirements are met. It also meets the educational requirements for entry into the Certified Planner (CFP) program. Graduates are also eligible for Associate Professional Membership of the Economic Society of Australia (Western Australia Branch).

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
