Introduction
The Foundation Studies Enabling Program for Rural and Isolated Students is designed to prepare mature age Australian and Permanent Residents to undertake undergraduate study. Successful completion will guarantee matriculation into Curtin University but not into any particular course.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
This course is designed for mature aged students who are at least 20 years of age. Applicants must have satisfactorily completed Year 10, or the Certificate II in General Education for Adults, or equivalent if they wish to study in the face-to-face mode.
Specific Requirements
Flexible delivery is also available for some units, but applicants must have completed a minimum of Year 12 to be eligible for this mode of study. An entrance test may be administerered. At application, students are required to consult with the Coordinator to determine eligibility and a career pathway.
Note
Those between the ages of 18 and 20 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Mature age students will be given preference. Entry to courses is a School or Faculty matter, and students must apply directly to the relevant School or Faculty.
Duration and Availability
This course is of one year full-time duration, or equivalent part-time and will be delivered subject to sufficient numbers. Some units are available flexibly.
Course Organisation
Students select either the Science or the Humanities stream, depending on background and future career pathways.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
Special Note
This course will be delivered subject to sufficient numbers and is currently under review. Successful completion of the program will guarantee matriculation to the University but not to any particular course. Entry to courses is a Curtin teaching and academic area matter and students should be advised of the limitations of the program, especially in health sciences, science and engineering.
