Introduction
This course provides an understanding of contemporary international relations as well as advanced skills in research and analytical thinking and is designed to complement existing knowledge gained from an undergraduate education in any recognised area including business, humanities, sciences and education.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelors degree in any field of study from a recognised tertiary education institution plus at least one year of work experience. Applicants who have completed the Graduate Diploma in International Relations or the first four units in that course willalso be considered for entry.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in International Relations may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under the General Information section in the Curtin Courses Handbook.
Course Organisation
Students are required to complete at least one third of their program via individual, supervised research projects at an advanced level, developing highly sophisticated skills in research, analysis, communication and reflection.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
