This double degree simultaneously develops expertise in the areas of business administration and health promotion.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Biology or Human Biology, and Applicable Mathematics.
Specific Requirements
Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Records Screening/Clearance Section of this publication. STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
The course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Course Organisation
Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event, the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.
Career Opportunities
There is an increasing demand for health professionals who have administration, management and marketing skills. Typically, graduates would seek careers in non-government or community-based health agencies and government health departments. It is particularly relevant for jobs in government health departments and in community agencies involved with health related areas such as alcohol and other drugs, injury control, disease control, heart disease prevention, cancer control, road safety, research, sponsorship and community development and capacity building.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
