Introduction
This course provides skills and knowledge in Internet practice, and an understanding of the growth, uses and future development and application of the Internet. It is designed to complement existing knowledge and is a general qualification studied in a way that best suits existing needs and priorities. Creative overlap between current employment and study is possible.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelors degree in any field of study from a recognised tertiary education institution.

Note
Alternative pathways are available for mature age students. In exceptional cases substantial, relevant work experience may allow for entry for applicants without a bachelors degree.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Students may be awarded credit for prior learning and demonstrated existing skills.

Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is of one semester full-time duration (or equivalent part-time) through flexible delivery using Internet technologies. Students normally complete this course over two semesters of part-time study.

Course Organisation
Students study four general units developing their broad skills and understandings of the Internet. Learning takes place through a mix of individual study, using materials provided by Curtin in electronic or print form, and group collaboration and communication via the Internet. Active student participation and immersion in the Internet environment is emphasised. Students may be permitted to transfer from this course to the Graduate Diploma or Master of Internet Studies to continue studies at a more advanced level and with a greater degree of specialisation.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study. Students are required to have and maintain reliable Internet access.
