Introduction
This four year program is designed to equip students to move directly into the workforce as provisionally registered psychologists. It is a general applied psychology program emphasising the application of knowledge to problems arising in professional practice. It provides a thorough understanding of the theoretical framework within which various approaches and techniques have been developed. Experimental design relevant to applied research is an important part of the course work. High achieving students may be selected to participate in an honours program in the fourth year of the course.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
None. One TEE mathematics subject desirable.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School. Course Organisation
Whilst the principle focus of this course is on psychology, it also provides a broad appreciation of human behaviour and experience by including studies in social sciences as well as other disciplines. Students are required to pursue a subject other than psychology, as a minor study. Students will be required to participate in clinical practice during vacations in second and third years of the course. In the third year students are selected for the honours program or continue with the standard course stream.

Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible to apply for associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society. A further two years training by means of graduate studies and/or professional work supervised by a senior psychologist, is necessary to gain full professional recognition and membership of the society.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.

Students switching into this four year program are required to consult with the Course Coordinator to discuss appropriate unit selection and progression. Students should also consult the Course Coordinator for requisites and to determine the appropriate sequence of study when choosing electives.
