STRU-ECSYS v.1 Environmental Chemistry Stream (BSc Science)
Major/Stream Overview
This major/stream is part of a larger course. Information is specific to the major/stream, please refer to the course for more information.
There is an increasing need to understand and manage the adverse effects of contaminants on the environment and on the biota that live in it. This stream develops the chemistry and toxicological skills necessary to evaluate degraded environments and implement strategies to restore environmental health.
Career Opportunities
Toxicologist, Hazardous site management, Contaminated site management, Environmental consulting.
Stream Overview Note
Units from Chemistry that are currently in the Environmental Science major will be the core of the Environmental Chemistry stream along with the Ecotoxicology and Environmental Monitoring unit that is a core in Coastal and Marine Science and in the Restoration Stream of Environmental Biology.
