| Syllabus: | This unit aims to advance student comprehension and evaluation of how branding cues and semiotics are applied by organizations that seek to develop or enhance luxury brands. Luxury brand communication applies across various settings such as advertising, brand elements, packaging, retail stores and online platforms. In this unit, focus is placed on analyzing how consumers derive semiotics from various sources. Emphasis is also placed on evaluating the effectiveness of communicating synchronized messages to consumers. Students gain insight into how practitioners apply and consumers respond to semiotics in luxury branding. Students learn to critique, evaluate and apply current semiotics in the luxury branding space and understand its impact on consumer culture and society. |
