Course Overview
Master Degrees (Coursework) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for professional practice, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications.
This course will provide you with a thorough foundation in contemporary business theories emphasising the creation and critical evaluation of innovative ideas and strategies within ambiguous and uncertain business environments. Throughout the course, students will complete a broad range of high-level, general and specialised business units. It is aimed primarily at middle and senior managers looking to improve their standing in industry, combining current business theory and local and international perspectives with hands-on project work and is interwoven with a core set of values reflecting our commitment to ethical and sustainable corporate governance practices. Located in the heart of the Perth CBD, the Curtin Graduate School of Business provides its students with constant exposure to the culture of excellence and you can be assured your MBA will prepare you for the challenges of an ever-changing business environment.
Course Accreditation
The MBA has been EPAS accredited since 2012. Awarded by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), EPAS accreditation means the MBA has been assessed as achieving the right balance between high academic quality and practical relevance for students in a global business environment.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Master Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au. Subject to the duration of the course applicants usually require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent (and may require relevant work experience), Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Specifically, applicants require a bachelor degree from a recognised tertiary institution and at least three years subsequent, relevant work experience. Graduates from the Curtin Graduate Certificate in Business will be considered qualified for entry. Applicants for a MBA are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards (IELTS requirement of 6.5 overall (with no individual band less than 6)). Entry to the course is competitive and applicants will be required to undertake an interview as the final stage of application assessment.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course:

Award Pathway
This course is an exit award of the MM-MECBAD Master of Science (Mineral and Energy Economics), Master of Business Administration. Students who complete the MJRP-BSADM Business Administration Major (MBA) may be eligible for entry into the MC-MBAADV Master of Business Administration (Advanced) to further their studies.
Course Organisation
Master Degrees (Coursework) contain a series of units in a specialised area of study which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences. They may also contain a range of majors/streams for students to choose from.
This course offers specialisations in Strategic Procurement, Leadership and Oil and Gas, as well as the generic Business stream.
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply a thorough discipline specific foundation of contemporary business theories, concepts and principles in a group or organisational environment; independently identify and investigate a research problem
2. create, critically evaluate and reflect upon innovative ideas and strategies within ambiguous and uncertain business environments (including business, government and not-for-profit organisations)
3. select appropriate information using technologies; make valid judgments and synthesise information from a range of sources; access, evaluate and synthesise diverse information for intelligent business application
4. communicate effectively in ways to appropriately interpret technical and non-technical information to a varied audience, for a range of purposes and to a professional standard
5. select and use appropriate technologies and recognise their advantages and limitations
6. possess and be able to utilise life-long learning strategies; maintain currency in professional practice
7. recognise and apply international perspectives within the business environment; apply international standards of practice and evaluate issues from a variety of perspectives
8. develop shared understandings of contemporary relevant issues which demonstrate a high and balanced level of cultural awareness in a diverse cultural business setting
9. apply professional skills- team work, leadership and ethical behaviour. Demonstrate, through self-leadership, a duty of care, honesty, integrity, fairness and knowledge of principles and law to uphold the ethical requirements of the profession
