UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline.
Syllabus: This unit is an introduction to physical, mental and risk assessment data collection and documentation. Iinterpretation of data in simulated and clinical settings. Apply therapeutic communication in selected clinical contexts. Utilise Australian and International health data to review and evaluate contemporary health issues and determine strategies for promotion of wellness across the lifespan in individual, family, and community contexts. Provide aspects of basic first aid and support client conditions in the community and pre-hospital context. Introduction to medication administration, calculations, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Introduction to principles of manual handling, clinical decision-making, principles of infection control and standard precautions.
