UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: | The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline. |
Syllabus: | This unit is designed for students studying spatial sciences, and covers a range of fundamental mathematical skills. These will form the building blocks for solving problems in science, engineering and business related fields, and this unit will explore some of these applications. Topics include functions and their limits, including trigonometric functions, exponentials and logarithms, essential functions for modelling real world behaviour. There will be a significant focus on calculus, both differential and integral, and its use in problem solving. This unit will also introduce the algebra of vectors and matrices, to allow students to consider problems with multiple dimensions and several variables. |
