| Syllabus: | This unit covers both written and spoken Chinese at an introductory level that builds on prior knowledge. A communication-oriented approach is used to help students develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing Standard Modern Chinese so that they will be able to communicate with speakers of Chinese in simple day-to-day situations. Students are encouraged to acquire the four essential language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. A wider range of topics on Chinese culture and the structure of the Chinese language will also be introduced. |
