Syllabus: | This unit is about advanced power system engineering and consists of three modules. Module 1 is on concepts of power system grounding including grounding fundamentals; single rod and multiple rod grounding; grounding mat design; and substation grounding fundamentals. Module 2 is on concepts of power flow analysis including real and reactive power calculations; contingency calculations; Gauss-Seidel, Newton Raphson, decoupled and DC load flow methods. Module 3 is on concepts of short circuit calculations including three phase fault calculations; Symmetrical fault; symmetrical components; positive, negative and zero sequence equivalent circuits; unsymmetrical line-ground, line-line-ground, and line-line faults; and circuit breaker ratings. |
