Syllabus: | Definitions and protection terminology. Unit protection, Zones of protection, Primary and back up protection. Protection system components: Current Transformers (CTs), Voltage Transformers (VTs), relays. Over current protection and grading. Differential protection. Protection of distribution lines. Reverse power and negative phase sequence protection. Transmission lines (impedance relaying) and transformer differential protection. Solid state relays. Fuses and their co-ordination. Developments in the field of protection e.g. digital protection. |
