| Syllabus: | Introduction to Biomonitoring: theory, technique and application; Quantification of biodiversity and monitoring of condition and ecological function of terrestrial, aquatic and soil ecosystems; Invertebrates as biomonitors in post-disturbance habitat; Cutting-edge technologies in biological monitoring: non-invasive sampling and genetic monitoring using DNA barcoding, megagenomics and bioinformatics; Assessment of water quality of wetlands and river systems; Restoration, rehabilitation and management of degraded aquatic ecosystems; Development and refinement of scientific skills in the context of biological monitoring. |
