Syllabus: | Distillation - Introduction to Phase Equilibrium, Equilibrium and rate processes, McCabe-Thiele and Ponchon -Savarit Methods. Leaching - Introduction to Leaching, Ideal and non-ideal leaching, Design methods. Extraction - Introduction to liquid/liquid extraction processes, Design of Counter-current cascade systems, Design of Cross-flow cascade systems. Filtration - Introduction to filtration process, Incompressible cake, Compressible cake, Filtration equipment. Sedimentation - Theory of sedimentation, Batch and continuous settler design, Flocculation; compression, settling of drops and bubbles. Hydrocyclone - Cyclones and design, Application. |
