Course Overview
Master Degrees (Coursework) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for professional practice, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications.
This course is designed for professional logistics specialists who are interested in significantly advancing their career in the area of logistics and supply chain management. Areas of study include: operations management, transportation and physical distribution, procurement, manufacturing, warehousing, inventory, retailing, global business and logistics, and the role of information technology in facilitating supply chain management. The course will meet the needs of those professionals with technical and supervisory skills in logistics and supply chain management.
Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible to apply for membership to The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Association of Australia (LAA).
Career Opportunities
Students who have successfully completed this course generally find employment in management roles within private and public organisations, utilising logistics and supply chain management.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Master Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au. Subject to the duration of the course applicants usually require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent (and may require relevant work experience), Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Specifically, applicants require an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline OR an undergraduate degree in any discipline AND a minimum of 5 year's relevant workplace learning OR a relevant Graduate Certificate.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course:

Course Organisation
Master Degrees (Coursework) contain a series of units in a specialised area of study which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences. They may also contain a range of majors/streams for students to choose from.
This course consists of 12 units of study, each 25 credits, totalling 300 credits. Students will develop a deep understanding of enterprise logistics and supply chain management including: global distribution and transportation, materials management, strategic logistics and operations management, global business, and the role of information technology in facilitating logistics and supply chain management.
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply logistics and supply chain knowledge, principle and practices in a business of public sector environment to ensure effective and efficient operations of an organisation, fulfil a managerial role in logistics and supply chain management within organisations; complete research work to extend supply chain knowledge.
2. apply logical and analytical methods to improve logistics and supply chain processes and activities, think creatively to generate innovative solutions to logistics and supply chain problems
3. use and evaluate multiple sources of information expertly to manage and improve logistics and supply chain practices and synthesise information in order to draw evidence based conclusions.
4. communicate at an advanced level, using appropriate terminology, with individuals and groups in organisations and within supply chains
5. expertly use new and existing technologies relevant to logistics and supply chain management
6. take responsibility for own learning and maintaining currency as part of professional development to maximise career progression and advancement throughout the working life.
7. Recognise, evaluate and deal effectively with local, national and international issues relevant to logistics and supply chain management in order to participate in a global environment.
8. Recognise the impact and importance of cultural diversity; deal effectively with cultural issues relevant to supply chain management and function appropriately within a cultural diverse setting.
9. work independently and demonstrate ethical and professional leadership in logistics and supply chain management areas; work effectively in teams.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.
