This stream has been developed for the nurse who is working in the clinical area and wishes to expand their professional competence to an advanced level whilst concurrently undertaking an academically sound course which embraces evidence based practice and critical thinking. This stream covers core aspects of perioperative nursing. The focus is on the development of advanced knowledge and clinical proficiency in the nursing care of perioperative nursing. It includes assessment, induction and ongoing management of the anaesthetised surgical patient, post procedure stabilisation and recovery of the surgical patient.
